For portraits, family and children’s sessions, here’s what you need to know!
Baby session information is slightly different, and I will speak to you directly about it. I do suggest that parents booking a newborn or baby sesion take a look at the information below since I usually include shots with Mommy and Daddy at the baby session!
How long will your session be?
Usually about two hours. Newborns and families larger than four sometimes take a little longer (from three to four hours).
Where will the session take place?
I shoot on location…and we’ll talk about it long before we shoot! It can be anywhere you want!
Your home, a local park or garden, the beach…your backyard, the pool, it?s your choice and as long as there is good natural light, no problem!
What should you wear?
I do recommend avoiding logo shirts and busy patterns. For families and children, there is no need to be matchy-matchy, though some people prefer a coordinated look when they review their images…so keep that in mind when you pick your clothing. Bring changes of clothing! I suggest that you bring one light solid top and one dark solid top and a pair of jeans – or a dress for girls.
Have fun with it! Does your child like to play dress up with your scarf and high heels? Bring them! Does your son love your cowboy hat? Bring it along! Bring what they love…it will be more fun for them, and the pictures will show it! So bring a few changes and let’s play! Same goes for adult portraits…dying to wear that bandana and take photos with your motorcycle? Let’s do it!
What about shoes, hair and accessories?
Keep it simple! Less is more when it comes to showcasing YOU in your photographs.
Shoes? Be comfortable…or wear nothing! Bare feet work just fine! Go easy on jewelry, bows and doodads. Keep hair unfussy – really, the way it’s worn every day is usually the best way to be photographed.
What else do you need to do to prepare?
For kids (and adults!!) it’s always a good idea to plan around nap times and meal times…so make sure the kids have eaten and rested…it makes for bright eyes and happy smiles!
